Kristi M. Gunster, founder and president of Gunster Communications, brings more than fifteen years of experience in communications and public affairs to the firm. With a background in issue and advocacy campaigns, her well-defined strategy is carried out with proven tactics for success.
Before launching Gunster Communications in May 2006, Gunster produced thought leadership events for Government Executive, a leading biweekly business magazine serving senior executives and managers in the federal government. As part of the National Journal Group in the Atlantic Media Company, this position allowed Gunster to gain experience in marketing and advertising sales, and produce events that extended the message of traditional advertising.
Previously, Gunster performed a variety of communications positions at Educational Testing Service, including Government Affairs, Media Relations and Marketing. Prior to this role, Gunster conducted strategic planning, coalition building, grassroots, media relations and speakers training for public affairs and ballot measure campaigns at Winner and Associates, a full-service political consulting firm.
Gunster received her MA in Communications from Johns Hopkins University, with a concentration in public relations and political communications, and her BA in Political Communications from George Washington University's School of Media and Public Affairs. She resides in the Washington, DC metro area with her husband, Gerry, son, Will and daughter, Anna.
